About Us

Welcome! We are so happy you are here!

We are so grateful to have the opportunity to create the next chapter for The Black Sheep. It's an honor to continue the legacy of the amazing women who came before us and preserve it for future stitchers.

In 1972, five friends made the creative leap to start a needlepoint store in Winter Park, Florida.  Barbara Allen, Lindy Brown, Jean Hatcher, Linda Heinl and Helen Weeks were the founding partners. When Linda and her family moved, Pat Hough joined the group. Lindy left next and her spot was filled by Soni Dorr.

After decades in business, the founders sold the Black Sheep to Caro Bradshaw, a very gifted stitcher.  When Caro was ready to retire in 2005, she turned the store over to Anne Jones, who continued the legacy for the next 20 years.

Fast forward to 2025 and Anne Jones was ready to retire. Cynthia Brumback and Leigh Ann Horton, lifelong customers of the Black Sheep, were called to purchase the Black Sheep and carry it forward in its next chapter.  Both Cynthia and Leigh Ann call the Black Sheep their first LNS, learning how to stitch at the shop and beginning their life-long passion for needlepoint there.

We look forward to keeping the Black Sheep a wonderful resource for needlepointer nationwide.
